Photographer's Note

This shot was taken on a late winter afternoon in mid - December with the sun low in the sky and just enough colour left to add to the golden glow. The view of 13th century Ulug Beg's Kok Gumbaz mosque on a quiet street in Shakhrisabz small town always caught my eye when I took a pleasant walk through this part of town. Waited till people came along as I thought they would enhance the shot and fitted the bill.

Setting: 18 mm, 1/80 sec, F10, ISO Raw 200, 1629 hrs & Polarised

The warm afternoon sunlight is wonderful and adds a wonderful glow to the walls of the mosque. The blue sky creates a great contrast too. The people on the right are also well included.

Another great presentation of the beautiful architecture of this country, and the excellent light gives beautiful warm tones to the image! The people are a good scale to the scene, showing how imposing the building is, and the perspective is also very nice! Wonderful job!
