Photographer's Note

She was rather shy it seemed and fully aware of my lens but focus of attention was actually more on those fluffy, glossy, golden crusty and freshly baked stuff. Round flat bread of this size is the most common kind
sold on every street corner throughout the country. Almost everywhere you go you can see bread sellers wheeling round in old-fashioned way, using big-wheeled, strollers or from many make shift stalls. For the Uzbeks, it's not only their staple food but is considered sacred and more than just food; it's a sign of well-being.

Just a small segment of daily life taken in early morning at a lively Siob Dekhkhan market in Samarkand.
Trust me, they are addictively delicious.....

The photo focuses on the piles of flat breads very well and they are also very nice lit, which gives them a pleasantly warm glow. The people are wlel included in the backdrop as well.

Bread is life. Those who have been to war or lived in wartime do know this, and they honour a simple piece of bread.

Glorious bread - and not a bad photograph either: it certainly makes my mouth water! I like the slightly off-kilter framing, with the second person appearing in the top corner. It seems to give the shot an authentic, grab-shot, documentary feel. Is this the beginning of a theme? Kasia has recently posted a similar picture...

this photo should have more points, it deserves it.
Not only seeing the bread is fun, but also seeing the clothing they're wearing, that's interesting as well. love the light and shadow variations from top to bottom, its a real shot of real people doing what they do, looks great.

I like the shallow depth of field with the focus on the bread, and its bright colors that make them really stand out in the composition. It reminds me of a photo I posted some time ago in the Central Market of my city, but instead of bread it was cheese. Your photo is great, with excellent light, colors and sharpness! Well done!
