Photographer's Note

She sells lanterns during the full moon night over the ancient city of Hoi An. She sells them for 67 cents a lantern, so that you could light one and set afloat down the canal for an experience you will never forget.
if a picture said a thousand words, this one would say just one, that she is old, very old. what it doesn't say was her fantastic energetic demeanour, the perpetual smile on her face, a language she used to spread a sense of joy and happiness. Using her frail old body, she would find her way onto the crowded wooden bridge to convince uninterested tourists that maybe by making a wish and lighting a lantern, their life path could change?

it was more than just a connection you make during your travels, the faces you see and don't. she reminded me of the fact that we are here for a reason, if you have come into this world, you have to "work" to take care of yourself.

You have to pick yourself up, get on to that bridge, make the sale, make a living.
i miss her.
