Photographer's Note

A shockingly heart wrenching image taken with great compassion whilst venturing the streets of Hanoi old quarter. He was one of some poor souls that just manage from day to day, searching for left over scrap food amongst the garbage bins to make just a meager living.

It was a 300 mm zoomed grab shot by avoiding an eye contact as I didn't want to offend or embarrass him. Not as good as it should be, but I think it tells a tale that makes my heart sore though to realize that there is so much that we have and so little that others have.

Some may find it extremely distasteful but important to me, coz there were things that I thought should be recorded and seen. Travel photography to me, is not always about capturing and show the colourful beautiful side of life, but there is always the 'dark' side which instinctively we tend to avoid or ignore!

A sad state indeed and the never ending lesson of life......
