Hanoi morning mist

Photo taken from the banks of the City's revered Hoan Kiem Lake. The following text is written by Samantha Coomber. Please enjoy!

Hoan Kiem Lake is a small body of water in the centre of the city. The sky is slowly lightening up the new day as Hanoi awakens from its nocturnal slumber. An all-consuming morning mist gently rises off the water and the air is refreshingly cool.
Hoan Kiem Lake is an unexpected calm of tranquility at the very heart - literally - of Hanoi, Vietnam's Capital City.
Hoan Kiem Lake means "Lake of the Restored Sword" referring to some legendary fifteenth century Vietnamese hero, whose magical sword — so the story goes — was swallowed by a golden tortoise. Hence on a tiny island in the middle of the lake stands appropriately "Tortoise Tower," an ancient three-tiered pavilion in memory of the famed tortoise.

Overall a very good photo. It is unfortunate that the dark area at the lower right corner cannot be cropped out as it is distracting.

On à l'impression qu'ici le temps s'arrete.J'aime ce sentiment de calme et de tranquilité qui se dégage de cette photo.De longs commentaires seraient inutiles,l'image parle d'elle même.Super.

Wow, great picture. I have also been to Hanoi and wish I had taken such a picture, jealous! I really love the simplicity and mystery. Love that reflection in the water. For me, the tree gets too much attention in this composition. Maybe you could have cropped a litte off the tree, so the focus is on the Tortoise tower (ande the beautifull reflection in the water).
