Photographer's Note

As I told you in my last post, I am showing you a photo of the rodeo we were watching in this magnificent setting, with the volcano "Rincòn de la Vieja" in the background.
If you look back at my post 127 on my p3, you will know that I am against bull fights. But I thought a rodeo was different, as there is no intention of killing the animal. So, I was looking forward to this show.
However, I developed an uneasy feeling during the performance, as I realised the animals they were using didn't want to be there and really wished to be left alone. They were calves not bulls, as they are not so dangerous, but the poor little beasts were frightened and often tried to return to the safety of their pen, but were forced to go back onto the ring.
One even did an awkward movement and broke its leg in the process. We were led to believe there was no other issue for it but slaughter the next day.
So, all in all, I came to the conclusion that rodeos also participate in the cruelty to animals.

We were staying at the Hacienda Guachipelin within the boundaries of the national park "Rincon de la Vieja".
Wonderful place apart from the rodeos !
