Photographer's Note
This picture is also from my archive but not so old.
In September 1999 I went for the first time to South America, to Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador and it was the first journey that I organized by myself. In 2001 in February I organized the next trip, to Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Honduras.
Here the people from the small village San Pedro La Laguna. We went there by boat from Panajachel on the Lake Atitlan. The village lies under the volcano San Pedro.
The specialty of the natives of Guatemala are wonderful hand made embroideries. You can see them here on the shirts. I have the impression that there are some similarities between native Americans and Tibetans. Don't you think so?
The cute girl holds the embroidery. The two birds shown there are quetzal and tucan. Quetzal is a national bird of Guatemala and it is depicted on everything, also the money is called Guatemalan quetzals.
This time I didn't use my old Smiena and ORWO Chrom any more. I had Minolta and used probably Kodachrome.

Hello Malgo,
A very good impression of this town in Guatemala and its inhabitants. The four people are very well captured together, but the little girl steals the show of course. Their clothing looks great, too, with fine colours, which stand out well from the background.

Bonjour, chère Malgo,
J'aime ce genre de prise de vue qui respire le naturel, le vrai, le réalisme.
Ces personnages gardent le sourire malgré une vie sûrement très difficile.
Très bonne journée.
Amitiés.

Hello Malgo,
What a charming photo, and the "Western" film really had better colours than the Orwo. They seem to have lasted longer as well. My Kodachromes have hardly faded at all, and this also looks well preserved. I have always seen similarities between Tibet and countries like Bolivia and Peru, but not so much here.
Kind regards,
Gert
PS Now I have added another country... ;-)

Ciao Malgo
I love the small girl with the toucan embroidery. The quetzal was much less familiar to me but resembles a bird of Paradise from New Guinea. A superb oldie from your central American trip. Tfs!

Hi Malgo,
You have captured well the smiling expression of the child and of the women. The point of view is showing the details of the child clothings. It is clear and precise. Have a nice day.

Malgorzata, that photo presents a native Guatemalan family. The little girl is holding indeed a hand made embroidery displaying two local birds, the quetzal and the toucan. Other handicraft pieces appears behind the two ladies. Rewarding document

Ciao Malgo
pur non essendo vecchia come le altre, questa foto ha quasi venti anni...
Bellissima la posa della bambina, una piccola star, ma altrettanto belli sono gli sguardi dei parenti.
Bel colpo, molto simpatico.

Hello Malgo,
This is a charming image from the recent past. The little girl is adorable, and I like all of the warm smiles. I like that the girl is standing apart from the others, and she is showing some local textiles. Very nice. :-)

Hi Malgo
the photo looks much older than 2001, I like it. I guess there are no modern buildings here to photograph hahaha. is this a popular tourist location, or is it more real, I guess what i'm asking is are they expecting money or anything like that? Hope to see more shots like this if you have them, they're very interesting to view. cheers

Dear Malgo,
The difference in the quality compared to the smena and ORWO is really spectacular. Its a really sharp picture and the colours are also good: the people stand out from the grayish background very well.
Best Wishes,
Gy.
