Photographer's Note

A boatload of tourists crossing the Chagres River in Panama, on its way to the Emberá Indian Village. The Emberá people still live a sem-primitive lifestyle in an area of the Chagres National Park. they maintain their ancient manner of dress and dwellings, but have electricity and some other modern conveniences. Visitors cross the river to the village in these long canoes with an outboard motor. The guide at the front looks for obstacles in the water, such as logs or crocodiles.
