Photographer's Note

This is a continuation on my photos taken in the Salzkammergut around St. Wolfgangsee. This building is a relic of the historic days of the Hapsburg Empire. As one can see it is still in the Imperial yellow and at one time was a Naval School for the Austrian Empire. Future naval officers were schooled here in sailing, navigation, seafaring laws as well as a conventonal study. Of course, Austria today, has no need for a navy or naval officers, thus this is now a boading school for youngsters who would be equivalent to our high schools or in Austria, gymnasium.

When our vessel stopped at this boat harbor, we had a number of young people come on the boat. I spoke with several and they were from various places in both Austria and Germany. It also functions as a summer boarding school. This location is on the north side of the lake and the boat, we are, on is headed for St. Giligen, the opposite direction of the boat you see here. Great location to visit. My next post will be from St. Giligen.
