Photographer's Note
Early morning in the heart of what is called the 'European District' of Brussels, which houses the HQ of the European Union. The police were bracing themselves for what is expected to be the largest demonstration upto now in a city that is used to angry crowds, demonstrating about the state of our world.
The high cost of living and the soaring petrol prices is what prompted the thousands of people expected to go out on the streets today to demonstrate. The building in the background is Berlaymont, that sits on the site of what used to be a convent. Today it is a symbol of the EU and the HQ of the European Commission (the EU's legislative body). The building is the official seat of the 27 European Commissioners.
