This visit during Covid-19 to Hoeke part of Damme, this is allowed in Belgium at the moment
My bike ride went past Hoeke a polder village with beautiful old farms, like this one in my picture.
I was standing on the slope of the A11 bridge over the Damsevaart
The farm is still in its original origin, inside I don't know.
Unfortunately, it rained, so the sharpness is slightly less than usual.
Share history:
Medieval Hoeke stretched on both sides of the current N49 / A11 motorway. In addition to the church, the harbor town also included a hospital, a mill, a toll house and a German trade office. Hoeke had at least two quays or jetties and possibly a sheltered harbor basin. The town was a marketplace for grain, salt fish and fruit, and it was probably also possible to repair or build ships. Recent historical and archaeological research by Ghent University made it possible to reconstruct the port of Hoeke on a map.
I hope you like it

Hello John,
The weather was obviously not good but I don't see much problem of lacking sharpness. Maybe you did some sharpening, and perhaps also some noise cleaning, during processing. The colours are quite pleasant even on this grey day, but most important is that it is a good composition. The shrubs in the foreground somehow balance the trees behind the farm, and the red roofs go well with the green grass. The sheep create a nice view and the large puddle reflects some of the buildings. You could hardly have done much better on a sunny day.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi John,
The presence of the sheeps is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the house and of the farm buildings. The gray skt does not hurt the colors output. Have a nice day.

Hi John
I like this - the formality of the composition with long reeds in the foreground leading to the farmhouses, broken by the animals and backed by lined of regimented trees. Love the clarity, some fresh green colour, lots of detail retained and bit of reflections. This is an appealing rural scene nicely captured.
Best regards

Hi John,
not only cloudy skies but even the rain does not stop you from making some bike trips and taking photographs for us.
I always admire how great are the colors of your shots at the challenging weather conditions like here. It is easy to make the saturation higher but if I do that then usually something gets wrong with the color balance. In your photos it is always perfectly adjusted.
Charming rural scene from behind the bushes.
Very well done,
M

Ji John
When I lived in Korea I was always sad to see the trees without any leaves at all at the end of Autumn. A good elevated pov with a nice reflection in the large puddle. Excellent sharpness too. Tfs!

Hello John,
WE cannot expect beautiful sunshine in late autumn, only occasionally. The field looks to be flooded, a similar feature to those in low lying regions in the U.K., for we have had a lot of rain this autumn.
You have shown us a typical autumn day, overcast and dull. Yet your photograph clearly captures the of the single storey buildings, with part reflections in the standing water.
The composition with a strong f/g of bare twigs, leads nicely to the features of the farm and links well with similar, naked branches, in the b/g.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hallo John,

Vele groeten, Paul
