Bruges, Rozenhoedkaai seen from Wollestraat. Taken 2 years ago, almost on the same days. 20 sec.s exposure, though, the exif says "0" :)

I wish you all a Merry Christmas, with all your dreams coming true.

As a melting pot of Eastern and Western cultures, Turkey makes also good use of Christian traditions, mixing New Year's Celebrations with gifts and even trees and Santas sometimes, a-la-western style. Of course, this only happens by taking the fun part of it and leaving the religious part outside. And this fun practice is not found everywhere in Turkey, but mainly in modern and wealthy parts of big cities, as season's shopping needs a good amount of money. The gifts are not opened on Christmas Day or Eve, but on the New Year's Eve.

stunning photo... I love this nocturnal composition, wonderful illumination. I really like the reflection in the calm water, and these stars are just bonus for this attractive work!

So interesting to read your note about contemporary Christmas celebrations in Turkey's big cities, sounds like a fun mash-up of festivities.

Thanks for explanation about Christmas in Turkey, I was just wondering how it is. Santa must look funny in Istanbul. But when it gives gifts, why not?

Love these 2-for-1 shots, a beauty night time reflection on this one. Such warm tones combined with the colorful and bright lights. A fitting way to celebrate the season, and the starburst effect adds that little extra flare to the otherwise calm and serene setting. What a beautiful scene this is, the soft light and crystal clear reflection giving us two fine festive images for the price of one. I love the buildings of course, what really strikes me though is the bursts of light on the left hand side, its like a provate fireworks exhibition! Beautifully seen and taken.

Wonderful light arrey and their reflection, superbly collected over smooth water surface. Exp. time not specified, but was not to short, nor long - just perfect to avoid excessive bulbs-glare and yet give a fine clear view.

Merhaba dear Deniz

What a great idea, keeping the religious part out of it and keeping all the fun bits of Christmas :) In that case, I hope you ate and drank too much and that Santa brings you some very nice camera presents on 1 January 2014. The Italians get it right by celebrating Christmas on 24 December and then Little Christmas (Bufania/Epiphany) on 6 January for more presents :) A beautiful, but freezing, photo. Superb nocturnal light management and superb reflections, especially the full moon.
