St-Laureins

This morning it was cold, and a little frozen, 1 to 2 degrees below zero, Celsius.
I asked my neighbour again, if he sometimes had a desire to drive his car to take photos, he agreed immediately to St Laureins .
I’ve my neighbour to give a camera, only for use, his makes nice pictures, maybe get he the microbe of photography.

St Laureins a wonderful area of nature, the picture is taken on 500 metres of then Netherland borders.

Vrouwkenshoek Creek

The Vrouwkenshoek creek is a creek north of the East Flemish town of Sint-Laureins.

The creek is part of a larger creek system that also includes the Blokkreek.

Although a valuable creek, it was filled in the 1950s with sediment from the dredging of the nearby Leopold Canal. With this the special biotope disappeared and people only found grassland where the creek once lay.
In the 90s of the 20th century, the site was purchased by Natuurpunt and from 2009 repair work took place whereby, among other things, the connection with the Dutch area (south of Sint Kruis) was restored, which had also undergone a repair operation.
The repairs were completed in 2012. In addition to the nature conservation function, the system can also be used for water storage.

Hallo John, good idea to protect that typical polder area. The clouds and the trees are reflecting on the creek water. The reeds turn golden in winter. Fine colors, good sharpness, instructive photo note, happy new year.

Hello John,
This clear and bright light with the clouds so perfectly reflected in the pond is a much better photo for the end of the year than the same old sunset we have seen so often.
Just as much as the clouds in the water I like the warm light shining on the autumn coloured weed along the shore.

Hello John,

Your photograph is very indicative of the time of year; pale, cool sky, naked trees and a plethora of browns and oranges in the vegetation.
I like how well you have used the sky and repeated it as a reflection, for greater emphasis.
The edge of the water makes a very effective separation line, very nicely decorated with the naked trees and their reflections.
It's a lovely, winter shot.

Hello John, sometimes I notice that a reflection of the sky is more detailed than the actual sky, which has happened here in my opinion.
The water is still so the reflections are very sharp. The sunshine has highlighted the golden colours of the reeds growing at the edge of the water.
You are fortunate in having such a good neighbour.
