St Jan in Eremo
Sint Jan in Eremo - Sint Laureins.
2019 December
You can enjoy the most beautiful part of the walking network from the bridge of Sint-Jansstraat over the Leopold Canal
Meetjeslandse Creeks. Here you can see the Leopold Canal, the Bentillekreek, the Oostpolderkreek and the Boerekreek. In short, all the assets of this
walking region together!
With its 6 km, the Boerekreek is the largest creek in East Flanders. Especially during the winter ironing in this nature reserve
the mostrare water birds.
Walk on the elongated fishing pier of the Oostpolderkreek and enjoy the breathtaking view of the creek and the picturesque
church of Saint John.
With the Leopold Canal on the right and the Bentillekreek on the left, you step through a pearl of a landscape.
When one crosses you can cross the Leopold Canal in a unique way: with a foot spring that you operate yourself. It is one of three springs that were installed in Sint-Laureins to bring walkers and cyclists back and forth.
I hope you like it

Hello John,
One of your favourite motifs. This time the iron railing with the faded paint is an important part of the traditional composition. You placed it well on a diagonal where it makes a contrast to the straight, deep view of the canal, which is as usual lined with trees. You had beautiful weather just before New Year's Eve, so the light and colours are very good.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John
All manmade with the bridge to the powerlines and well placed trees. Still the lines have provided a very pleasing image with vivid colors and POV. nice

Hallo John, that bridge is crossing the canal. The pov provides a good depth. The trees hand planted on each edge create a lane, very pleasant to see. The reeds take a golden color in winter. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hi John,
I appreciate the reflections on the water. The length of the canal is creating depth and perspective. The point of view is showing the details of the tress. Have a nice day.

Hallo John,

Hello John, We have seen already similar views of the canal lined with the trees but it is always a great pleasure. Awesome perspective, wonderful autumn colours. And what a spectacular sharpness. Fantastic view from an old bridge.

Salut John,
I like the opposing angles of the fg bridge rail and the bg canal. Good sharpness and nice repetition of the evenly spaced trees. Good reflections too. Tfs!

Hello John,
If I was to picture Flanders, this would be the image that would immediately come to mind: long, straight canals, edged by equally straight lines of trees.
The winter light is beautiful, warming the trees and creating the most perfect reflections, the whole length of the canal.
I like your clever way of anchoring the f/g, helping to create this vast sense of depth.
Have a lovely w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi John,
amazing view of the trees aligned along the channel.
Very picturesque scene. Fantastic geometry.
The metal fence adds a surprising realistic touch to the view. I appreciate it though because so many times I was wondering how you take those unspoiled photos of channels and this picture illustrates it well giving the context of the fence.
Great light.
There is an interesting contrast between the rusty fence and a picturesque view behind as f two different worlds.
Very well done,
Have a great weekend,
M

Canals are one subject you like the most, I assume, John, and each one is different.
There is a perfect strait line to the depth of the scene, framed by the two parallel lines of trees and the railing in front.
Have a nice new week,
Ike
