Castle “RYCKEVELDE”

At the end of the 16th century, a nobleman, Monsieur Wautelet, built a mansion and a farmhouse, both of which have been preserved in modified form.

After the death of Pieter de Tollenaere in 1743, his heirs sold the castle to Pieter-Augustinus Le Gillon and his wife Marie de l'Espée. Their granddaughter Marie-Thérèse de Vivero and her husband Piette Wautelée came into possession at the beginning of the 19th century due to inheritance. After their death, it was their son Adolphe Wautelée and daughter Jeann-Nathalie Legrand Wautelée. The latter gave it to her confidant Joseph de Marthe from Pau. It was rented to August-Octaaf de Schryver (father of August E. de Schryver).

The current Neo-Gothic castle was completed in 1929 by Baron Rafaël Gilles de Pélichy and was inhabited by the family until 1946.
