Great America, a photo from Stredocesky, Bohemia

Photographer's Note

This place is called Great America.
This is a great place. We even went down this canyon and swimed a little though the water was too cold.

There were many many Solvay mines at this place. They are a very sad part of Czech Republic because a lot of political prisoners worked and died there.

People called it America because several years ago a lot of 'campers' went there. It became popular and czechs called it America as camping is popular in the USA and there are a lot of canyons there.
But now this place is closed. It is supposed to be dangerous there. But climbers and tourists continue going there though some of them die there from time to time.

I would thanks anyone who can give more comments on this place as I know too little.

This is a lovely scene with good colours and composition. It's a little overexposed and out of focus in the background, but nevertheless a nice shot.

une vue interessante par son sujet, son, cadrage, POV et format, malheurreusement les lumières et les couleurs, sont un peu fades de même que a mise au point manque un peu de précision.
Je suis certain que cela va s'améliorer.

Nice part of Earth. You use good composition but I think here we need more of sharpness and colours. You can fix it in Photoshop.

It's probably not very easy to manage the lighting on the cliff, which might explain the overexposure. Possibly this could have been fixed at least to a certain extent with some post-editing in Photoshop. As Susanna said, the background is a bit out of focus. The composition is good, with the river forming a diagonal over the photo. Thanks for posting.

Hello Vladimir, I find this image beautiful, and your description is well detailed, I like this place even it is dangerous, good place to swimm and I think to fish, my compliments for your work.

Hi Vladimir,
Amerika (correct Czech spelling is with "k" instead of "c") near Karlstejn is a nice place indeed, and I was there many times. I guess it is called Amerika because it looks like Grand Canyon in the USA. Howere it is not a natural canyon, it is former quarry, and that's why it is closed to public -- it's private property of a quarry company and quite dangerous -- a lot of people already get hurt there.
The photo is well composed. It's a pitty it isn't a bit sharper.

This is indeed a beautiful place, Vladimir, but it could have more sharpness, in fact, as we can see on the WS; the composition is very good, I'm sorry I can't help you with comments about the place, I really don't know anything about it.
