Photographer's Note
the House with the Blue Eyes
Today not a picture from my Southern-Sweden-Travelogue, but I return to Copenhagen, for this picture that I took two weeks ago from a canal-tour boat. The building you can see here is called Huset med de blå øjne (the House with the Blue Eyes).
Huset med de blå øjne is located on the banks of Københavns Havn, the harbour of Copenhagen. It is the headquarters of the international transport company A.P. Møller-Mærsk (or just Mærsk/Maersk).
There was not really much more information I could find. The picture will also be added to my theme Modern Architecture in Copenhagen.
Hope you like it!

I think you have croped the photo very well. On the top and sides nothing extra, just windows.
On the bottom just enough of the darker wall to understand that it is a real building in the city not some abstract thing.

Nice shot, Lars. So many blue eyes. The scene is well framed and the colours are good. It's interesting that the reflections in the lower windows are all different.

Bonsoir Lars

Excellent sharpness and a beautifull blue color. This geometrical pattern is very near a modern painting (well, modern of the 60's). Howver, perhaps a bit to symetrical for me.
All the best,

Great graphical picture, Lars, I like especially the fact that we see anything but blue only in the lower row of windows. Two lanterns are really an addition. Very good!

Hi Lars - wow, excellent catch, the patterns make an exquisite graphic composition, and the bright blue windows add even more to the appeal.

Fantastic abstract shot Lars. You have framed/cropped the image perfectly. Are the windows tinted blue or is it the reflection from the sky?

Bonjour mon ami Lars,

What a nice graphic one! I really love it, Lars. The composition is so very well executed that impresses me. Usually, we got distortions in this kind of shots, but you manage well, from an excellent POV and the framing is perfect. I like very much the title as well. Excellent work!

Hi Lars, Geweldig grafisch-archi werk hier.

Tak for synet.

Hi Lars, An impressive abstractive view of the modern building in this picture. You have done a good job to keep the entire picture without any distortion, which is often we see for the straight geometric clearly dividing photos. Nice contrast and excellent sharpness. Well done.

Very nice graphic shot. I really like the inclusion of the bottom part, with the wall and streetlights, it gives a good sense of proportion and a nice reflection in the bottom row of windows. Well done!

Hi Lars,
I like the graphism and colour in this unusual shot. The most baffling aspect however are all the different scenes in the lower windows, which really makes the scene intriguing. Your cropping and framing are well executed. Well captured.

Hello Lars, its the repetition, the simple pattern that makes this picture a winner. There's just enough differentiation at the bottom of the image to make the photo interesting.

Hi Lars,
What a great idea to take such a shot. It's perfectly framed, exactly as close as necessary to reveal the outstanding pattern hidden in this house. Very well done!

Even if I prefer the red one, I like that one too... Excellent regular framing and good bottom details to create some rupture : the lamps, the slope... Very design and minimalist but effective. I would even say Scandinavian ;=) (even if I've never been there !!?)

Hi Lars,
I really like this two shots (the eyes of the houses). Here you've really well mastered the composition to acchieve the wanted result of repeiting pattern... if it wasn't for the street lamp I wouldn't know what it is... it's a very minimalist picture.
Have a nice day,

Hello again,
I did not go though all your gallery, but from what I've seen, this one is my favorite.
It takes a good eye to see those kind of things. Few see it actually. Cobraphil is one of the best here if you want to look at his stuff.
About this one...Well, I guess it was a rather tough decision to keep the bottom or not. I mean, keeping just the eyes and cropping the lights, the reflections and the rest...But, in my opinion, it was the right choice. It gives a subtle context and adds a lot of power to the composition visually...If you had kept it higher in the frame, the effect would not have been that good. SO, it was an excellent choice.
now, I'm a bit shy and so many eyes pointed at me make me feel bad...
see you,
Marc

Hi Lars
I know that building well, and I also photographed it, but it didn't turn out as well as yours. It's quite characteristic with it's blue eyes, isn't it? I like modern architecture and it puzzles me that I haven't really discovered your gallery before. You have a lot of super shots from CPH, too.
Fine work, Lars.
Cheers Frank

Awesome POV, simple and a nice sight collected onto the modern building façade, lars.
The repetition of same-style windows, mostly show sky - but the lower row show a different scene on each window. These could be a nice series of windows reflection photo.
Wish you a nice Sunday,
Ike

Lars, the repetition of the same window with a blue glass creates a pleasant visual effect. These geometric shapes draw the passersby attention. Interesting architectural detail. Fine colors, excellent sharpness, regards.
