Photographer's Note

Nyhavn, the most visited street in Copenhagen and probably in whole Denmark. Starting from an old anchor at Kongens Nytorv, the street is lined with many small bars and restaurants facing out to a picturesque harbour. Nyhavn was built by King Christian V in the 1670s, and it once had a bad reputation on account of the concentration of sailors living in the neighborhood. The oldest building still standing is from 1681, at number 9. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen lived in Nyhavn for some years.

In warmer weather people fill every available table in the outdoors seating area in front of every restaurant. And even in cooler weather the heartier types sit outdoors with a beer and a blanket, provided by the restaurant on each seat, over their legs. While not extremely expensive, the restaurants are not cheap. Less formal seating is on the edge of the harbour with bring-your-own beer. It is not uncommon to see groups of young people sitting along the waterfront with beer, enjoying the sunshine, the crowds and the street entertainment.

An appealing shot Alexander, bright with punchy colours.
It's well composed too, although I'd have preferred it without the distortion of the waterfront buildings. Doesn't matter too much though, and I can't see how you could have avoided it anyway.
I like it - especially the sky, which is quite spectacular.

This is a great shot of the waterfront in Copenhagen. Your composition is great creating diagonals with the wharf and the roof lines giving the photo nice direction. Many fine points of interest in this shot with the boats and brightly colored buildings. The lighting and colors are great as is the sharpness.

Belle photo de cette rue bordée par ces jolies maisons d' un coté et par ces bateaux de l' autre, bel allignement dans les deux cas. Jolies couleurs et grande netteté qui nos laisse voire de magnifiques détails comme les mats, les filins,les fenètres etc...

I remember having visited this street about 20 years ago. But at that time I didn't carry a camera with me all the time (I was on a business trip). You had a wonderful light and used it perfectly to bring out the colours of the old buildings. Your POV is also well chosen to show both the houses and the boats along the river. I really must go back there one day!

Privet Alexander,
Nyhavn is a photographer's favorite for the rich variations of colors these houses have and the maritime dimension added by the boat, plus it's a lively area, you got great light to shoot this perspective and used it well, plus I like the wide angle effect felt from the clouds.

I don't know Copenhagen well, but Nyhavn is the most photogenic place I've seen there. Good perspective shot. Strong colours on those houses are attractive and alwys like to see some ships too.

You couldn't have chosen a better title as they are the two aspects of the image that hit you between the eyes, along with the beautiful polarised sky. The high clouds are creating their own diagonals in opposition to the perspective of the street. Good work

I never stop to be amazed by this well-known, very nice scenery, especially when captured so well, like this is. The pov is excellent and the cpl filter is perfectly used, in order to obtain this gorgeous sky and the very nice colours of the buildings. Great one and I like it a lot!

Well, everything you could want here. Line of boats, row of very colourful houses, and great cloud formation. Very good perspective achieved from your viewpoint. You can't go wrong with the sun shining so fully on such marvellously coloured buildings. This makes Copenhagen seem so appealing, much more than it seemed to me on the dull days I was there rather fleetingly on two occasions years apart.

j'admire ce festival de couleurs, elles sont vives, bien placées les unes par rapport aux autres, elles attirent l'oeil.
Une photo très bien cadrée et qui montre un ciel si séduisant, bien dessiné, bien rendu au niveau du bleu.

The 2 or 3 times I've been to Copenhagen I've absolutely loved Nyhavn. It's normal, me being a fan of colourful things. This shot is of excellent quality with the colours standing out brilliantly as well as the superb sharpness and depth thanks to your pov. The sky really adds dynamics.

When I think about Copenhagen I can see beautiful houses, channels, and boats.
You show it in a excellently on the photo.
Beautiful colours, unbelievable sky - probably the best - and gastronomic promises in the note.
It would be great to sit there on the edge of the harbour with a glass of Calsberg.
I like also the perspective of the photo.
