Photographer's Note
Again taken with my dads D70 - I know it's kind if a cheesy motif, but I was nostalgic when I took it. This was taken on the beach near my grandparents summer house, and what the three people are doing is fishing with bamboo sticks and string for crabs, only to look at them and set them free again. Me and my brother used to do that with my grandfather all the time, but he died five years ago, and I often miss him, like when I took this shot.

Great shot Line! This is wonderful. I appreciate the way you've cropped the image, keeping the focus on the trio sitting on the perch. The sepia works well. And I don't consider shots like this cheesy, they really are slices of daily life and well worth sharing with us. That the photo evokes memories for you doesn't disqualify it as a subject suitable for posting. I'm glad you did.

By any moral standards, this photo is fine. Nothing wrong looking from behind. Regardless, sepia/black & white is "known" all over for its "yesteryears" efect. Guess our lives would never be simple and easy going like before.

Hi Line, once again you show us your strong personal approach showing peoples activities not afraid to use a very well use of an emphatic and dary postprocessing. You got a special eye !

Strong composition with good use of lines, contrast and shape; personally I'm slightly curious as to the distance I feel with this shot. The perspective and choice of focal length seems to suggest some length between "me" and subject matter, that feeling which runs at odds with the theme of the photo. Perhaps I've been looking at too many super wide angle shots...
It is a good shot and I can see that it's special and important to you, nothing like a bit of nostalgia but like cgrindahl said it does have wider significance too.

Very well composed. The tight crop helps us to concentrate in their position which is symbolic of the way they are sharing something. And sharing, even the less interesting things, is one of the most precious events we may experience in life. Very inspiring.

Hi Line:
The pic is great, I like the three ones sharing their time together. I am sure they will remember this in the future and they will get nostalgic same as you did.
Life is also to remember.
Thanks for sharing this moment.

You're note is very sweet....
And the picture is funny, modern guys which you've added in a nostalgic and romantic scene.
The colour is fine too.
Nice and warm shot !

I like the way you see things happen and immediately see the value of it. Like yesterday's runner, and now this moment, I don't know what's cheesy about it. Nothing wrong with being nostalgic, and certainly not when you remember your beloved grandfather. The moment is great, and it's a real pleasant shot, these big guys and the small one, nice composition, and nice weather, BTW ;-)

There is already plenty of comments on the feeling bit so I'll go straight to the excessive sharpening that you applied to the image producing very distracting white halos everywhere. The photo was not sharp to begin with and sharpening, despite its name, doesn't make it any sharper, it just tries to fake sharpness by creating thin dark or light lines along all edges.
So although the scene is very cute, I'll be hard and techical here and stick to one point.

Yes - I fully agree with the other comments - this pure nostalgi - and we properly all got such memories - How ever must I do my fishing alone - my father was busy farming - but I went with some freinds - but without a camera.
Thanks Line - you doing great with your "new" camera :-)

Nothing cheesy about this shot.
I enjoy looking at the pleasure these people take in each other's company and what they're doing.
Nice crop that draws the attention to the subjects and very good balance of the grey tones.
Some oversharpened edges, but it adds something indefinitable to the whole image.

Hello Line, seems to me close this image of your NOSTALGIA, a photo in B/W, with much sense.
Congratulations and a greeting......Paco

I love the diagonal of the ladder, and also the great shadows on the guys' backs! Very cool photo - I wish the boy in the middle wasn't in the shadow, but theres nothing really to do about that.

Fungerer i øvrigt skide fint som black and white.
