Photographer's Note
This is a very little spider (full of eggs, I suppose) found along the river between two tree branches. Not much light and no tripod, so I had to combine speed and aperture and tried several combinations. This one worked the best, although not perfect in terms of DOF (too short). Resized and rotated to create a diagonal. Autocontrast and sharpened in PS.

Jean, you did an incredible job. As presented, it is so powerfull. The DOF is not so important, as your image has kick and translucency. If you have no flash and no cards, use your white shirt or hat, anything, to throw some light on the subject. I carry a little stainless steel mirror for such use, ± 100 x 150. Mrs Spider looks happy, so my smile

Bonne prise de vue. Macro très réussie pour une prise à main levée. Bon travail. Bravo !

Very cool photo. I love spiders and have a pretty good shot of one in my gallery. There's a huge one outside my garage that I plan on shooting when I get home.
Great results considering the conditions.

Je me joins à l'ensemble des critiques tout en soulignant encore le fil de soie selon la diagonale de la photo, du plus bel effet. Bon choix du couple vitesse/ouverture ici puisque l'exposition est bonne, l'araignée bien nette. Joli travail!

Perfect macro shot indeed! What I like is that the background is not distracting and the little beauty seems sliding graciously down, because of the rotation you did. I really enjoy it so much!

I'm amazed how you were able to focus on this spider so well given its size. And no tripod...wow. I think it was the right choice with the background, because it keeps things simple and in shots like this, I think, simple is much, much better. Also, the background colors are the same as the color of the spider...so all is good. For me this is a great shot and you did well taking it. Excellent work!

The "diagonale" line is very well used and the picture nicely framed.
Without a tripod? Very well done Jean-Michel!...
