Ile de la Cite, Just Before Dawn, a photo from Ile-de-France, Nord

Photographer's Note

We are in Paris for a visit - which of course means I have to get up before dawn and go shoot the place up. This shot was taken from the Pont des Arts, looking east to the Ile de la Cite, during civil twilight (about 30 minutes or so before sunrise).

I don't have access to Photoshop or other editors while I'm the road, only to Nikon VX, which lets me look at the photos in RAW, and which will convert them to jpg. Which is what I did here.

I'm getting groggy enough that I have to correct almost every other letter I'm typing, so I'd better stop now.

This is a great early morning shot with the streaks of light reflected on the water leading the eye into the scene. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness and DOF. You have done a nice job of blending the natural and artificial lighting to produce a nice shot.

Hello Dan -

Joanne and I are envious. For a non-processed image this looks great. The dark spot where the Palais de Justice is located is a touch bothersome but with some delicate processing at home it should provide just a touch of detail. Enjoy!

Where are you staying? We usually stay in the Rue Cler neighborhood.

Hi Dan,
Congratulations, you woke up early and it is a good idea at this season. It is cold but the light is beautiful in the morning and you well caught it.
Certainly, with Photoshop, you would have been able to have better one neatness but I like this view which reminds me the photos which I took in Rome very early in the morning, last winter.
My English is very bad, but the language does not have to be a problem!!!

Hi Daniel,
This capture at the blue hour during the sunrise is a photographic beauty, in an elegant and romantic scene.
The wide vision angle gives us a sight of the city of Paris very evocative and with a nice lighting, in a composition where the reflections play a great aesthetic role.
It is a beautiful photo.
