Photographer's Note
In recent years, couples have taken to attaching padlocks with their first names written or engraved on to the railings on the Pont des Arts, then throwing the key into the River Seine below, thus representing a couple's committed love. This has spilled over to the railings on the side of the bridge. Across the Seine can be seen the Institut de France.
