Photographer's Note
This is a photo of the Canal St. Martin. For those of you who have seen the film "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain", this is where she goes to skip rocks. Actually this part of the film is quite ironic because they say she likes the simple things in life like sticking her hand in a bag of grain or skipping stones here. In fact to skip a stone here would not be simple at all. First of all it is illegal for everyone except authorized personnel to be on the green "passerelle" that crosses the water. (Actually it is part of a lock system) So Amélie would have to hop over 2 fences and hope not to get arrested for her simple pleasure of skipping rocks.
Actually during the time I took this photo there was a boat just the my left. They were in the process of regulating the water level to allow it to pass to the next "lock".

A good picture showing different ages of architecture, defined by their style. The foot bridge is a good addition to the uniformity of the facade behind.
Well done Michele

You portrayed industrial age architecture nicely here, Michele. I like your 1/2 bridge composition very much. You might consider to boost the saturation to make the iron elements stand out more. Well seen & done, Michele.

Another one for the Amelie series! :)
The locks are interesting to me, i'm envious of folks who live near working canals with riverboats and such plying up and down. the soft look and toneddown colours makes it rather attractive to me. The bridge is unique, what a large curvature
good shot

Yes, I remember that place from the movie, Michele. Fine choice of shooting angle, with the pedestrian overpass leading right into the upper right corner, and showing the canal, the old building and the streetlamps in a good way. Some more contrast might give this one a boost. Great note with interesting facts!
Okay, you've done it. Over the Easter holidays, I'm going to watch the Amélie movie again ;-)

I like your picture - lots of interesting aspects. Lovely peaceful water to the right, "waterfall" to the left. The pic seems to have a slight pink tinge but that may have something to do with the camera. So where exactly did Amelie stand? On the bridge? I can't remember - I'll have to get the film out and have a look. Good job *:)
