This is the Grand Sphinx in the Egyptian antiquities section of the Louvre in Paris
About the exhibit

A large granite Sphinx found in Tanis, Egypt. It measures 1.8 metres in height and 4.8 metres in length.
A Sphinx has the body of a lion and the head of a king.
About the photograph
--------------------
The original photograph was converted to black and white and then merged with another photograph of some Egyptian writing.
Contrast increased with standard S curve and finally resized and sharpened before posting.
Perhaps a little to digitally manipulated for TrekEarth? but I like it. I hope you do too
