Photographer's Note

Every year in the ancient town of Provins (~100km east from Paris) happens one of the most important medieval festivals in France - La Fête Médievale.

For two days in June thousands of people escape back to Middle Ages, playing music, performing shows, selling all sorts of ancient stuff, or (like me) just hanging around. The ambiance on the streets combined with the energy of the place (a medieval fortress, no less!) create that very special atmosphere that makes you come back every year, over and over again.

The people on the picture are no ordinary medieval folk. This is a band called "Aux Couleurs du Moyen Age", they play outstanding music and have become the face of the festival - you can see them on every poster promoting the Fête Médievale.

Although this year (this weekend actually) they were also there (as was I), I'm posting this shot taken one year ago, when I caught them in the Sunday défilé, the culmination point of la Fête.
