Reflections in the Vieux Port, a photo from Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, Sud

Photographer's Note

This port was built from 600 BC, was developed over the course of centuries and was expanded during the reign of Louis XIV, with the construction of two forts at the entrance: Fort Saint-Nicolas and Fort Saint Jean.

It is one of the key points of Marseille tourism, as in many cafes, shops, markets and other facilities for tourists are concentrated.

Este puerto, construido a partir del 600 antes de Cristo, se desarrolló con el correr de los siglos y fue ampliado durante el reino de Luis XIV, con la construcción de dos fuertes en su entrada: el Fuerte Saint-Nicolas y el Fuerte Saint-Jean.

Es uno de los puntos neurálgicos del turismo marsellés, ya que en el se concentran multitud de cafés, tiendas, mercados y demás establecimientos para los turistas.

Hi Luis,

I could spend almost an entire day around the port taking pictures, there are endless possibilities...and you've proven that be true just "on the surface" alone. :) Reflections are many, but not always best utilized for photography. This is one that certainly holds a valuable place for a keen eye and roving lens, and you caught it sublimely! Not only is the reflection itself an abstract highlight, but the included portions of the boats give it proper context. My favorite aspect though is the tilt, a minor, but brilliant strategy that sets this apart from the traditional. Amazing clarity, sharp focus, and for my taste...plenty of blue color from those azur skies. :) Love it! Have a great day ahead my friend. Warmest wishes.

for some reason when I see this photo I think of a knife.

Maybe its the sharp lines on the downward diagonal that make me think that way - the destinctive lines on the boat.

love the frame, the wiggles in the water and just the overall white/blue/black color combo.

Hello Luis,

This must are one of the most oldest port in France.
We see the boats in different position, almost a painting in the reflections.
Colours and depth are very nice.

Hello Luis - The palette of contrasting shades of blue and white with small splashes of warm yellow make this image appealing. The bright light and high contrast does the rest. A memorable set of reflections and a shot that conveys the feel of a sunny day by the water.

Bright day brought out fabulous colors and the reflection over water, Luis.
Painted water is a great subject for photographers - a welcome theme on TE, and aditedly, did not pay much attention to this phenomenon, until saw the opportunities on this site.

Buenas tardes mi querido Luis,
Que bonita y original imagen has captado aqui, por supuesto que me encantan esos reflejos tan perfectos, que parecen un espejo, pero me gusta muchisimo el POV de la imagen con esas líneas, que se marcan tanto en el casco del barco, como en los reflejos.
Es una imagen muy elegante y bien vista, con el broche de oro del marco, algo en lo que me fijo mucho y valorizo tambien.
La nitidez, luminosidad y colores son perfectos.
Disfrutad de una buena semana.
