Photographer's Note

Cette image représente le sommet de la façade principale du théâtre des Célestins, à Lyon.

Construit en 1792 à l'emplacement du couvent des Célestins, le théâtre a été détruit deux fois (en 1871 et 1880) par des incendies, puis reconstruit. Le bâtiment que l'on peut voir aujourd'hui date donc de 1881, et il a été entièrement rénové en 2005.

Prochainement une vue plus générale de ce joli théâtre.

This image represents the top of Celestins theatre main frontage, in Lyon.

Built in 1792 on Celestins convent site, the theatre was destroyed twice (in 1871 and 1880) by fires, then rebuilt. The building we can see today was built in 1881, and it was entirely renovated in 2005.

Soon a more general sight of this beautiful theatre.

Hello JB,
Another nice shot from Lyon...
Very well of using the light as usually, it make the nice golden colour on whole fine art building. The blue colour on top make it contrast against bottom side. Thanks :-)

J'aime bien ta serie de frontons et gargouilles, celle ci est tres bien exposee, bonnes couleurs lumiere et contraste. Un bon cadrage bien precis!

Hello JB,

Les batiments que tu saisis ces dernier temps se prêtent bien à ce traitement qui rend les façades dorées ! Vu l'effet de symétrie, j'aurais pour ma part centré au mieux cette belle partie d'achitecture ! Sinon, la texture resort bien grâce à cette belle lumière !

Hi JB,

Yellows and blue. Great combination always. I especially like the detail and the blue in this shot. It's not the standard dark blue you'd get with your polarizer. It's lighter and more intense. Love it!
I would myself have done a small transformation on the top of the roof, just stretching it a slight bit. Right now, the bottom horizontals are straight, but the top is tilted to the left. Can just be the distortion of the lense giving that effect and you can get it out easily with a transformation in PS. But next to that a wonderful shot!

jolis détails de ce théâtre des Celestins. C'est vrai que ce théâtre n'a pas eu beaucoup de chance dans son existence mais il a retrouvé depuis quelques années toute sa splendeur au milieu de la place rénovée. La lumière du petit matin (et la JB's PP-touch) mettent superbement en valeur cette partie de la façade. Bien joué.

You've isolated an interesting detail here JB, but again the saturation has been pushed a bit too far (for my taste).
I like the simplicity of the composition, although I think it would have worked better if you'd kept it symmetrical rather than having everything off-centre.

JB, c'est un vrai travail d'orfèvre cette photo. Tout est bon depuis la composition dans un cadrage serré jusqu'à la lumière sur la façade. Le masque de la tragédie au dessus de "THEATRE" c'est simple mais bien fait.

Hello JB,
Lyon is really a nice city, filled with beautiful old buildings and you have that gift to bring us some of their more nice details thru your photos such as this one.
This approach to the higher level of the facade with all these details, and golden tones is really outstanding, and contrasts well with the deep tones of the sky.
