Photographer's Note
FROGS – GRENOUILLES – KIKKERS
As probably several of you, I have a permanent screensaver scroll through one of the folders of my photo archive.
As a result, I am regularly looked at by the frogs I photographed in September during a 14 day holiday in Azerat - Dordogne - France.
It seemed as if they were asking me to step out of my comfort zone and replace mirrored architecture and interaction with modern art with photographs of nature for once.
In this case: "Living like a frog in France".
A water basin 50 meters from the house where we stayed was the domain of a number of frogs that could be heard at night and showed themselves during the day.
Several times a day I walked to the pool to see if there were any nice pictures to capture.
In the pool was a shelf that the frogs used to catch flies. They wait patiently, sitting still on the shelf for a fly to land in front of them. Than, too fast to photograph, they rolled out their tongues and gobbled up the fly.
A difficult choice from the dozens of photos I took of these frogs, but here is a selection of three scenes.

Hello Rob,
What a wonderful photo. It's interesting, a bit funny and very photogenic with the green frogs surrounded by the green water. They look like they are lining up at the counter of a self service restaurant, which may be almost true according to the note. The close-ups of the WS are very interesting too, one of them showing a special gentle moment. You obviously made a good choice of holiday home.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hello Rob,
I never tried the frog's legs or snails / escargots in France but did try many Dutch cheeses in Amsterdam. A nice vertical shot with good repetition of the amphibians and excellent sharpness and focus. The workshops compliment the main post. Tfs!

Hello Rob,
Most frogs would jump to water just as they would realize someone with a camera around...
Great capture, all three photos in extract perfect zoom, cheers.

Goedemiddag Rob,
Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit een zwaar overtrokken Oost-Vlaanderen,
John.

Hi Rob,it is really strange to see photos of nature in your gallery, and this post dedicated to frogs is very curious. It is interesting to see your photographic stilw applied to this world, far from museums and reflections, and the result is excellent, the main photo is really super. I also like the WS where the little insect has expertly settled on top of the frog, avoiding becoming its lunch. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hallo Rob,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hello Rob,
You have captured some excellent photographs of these frogs, feeding, in love and just patiently waiting! I love the textures of their skin, captured with such clarity that that they are almost palpable!
(Maybe these are brave frogs for life might be a little short for frogs, in France!)
I am surprised that the frogs were mating in September.
We have a pond in our garden where frogs congregate in February and lay spawn at the end of the month or into March. (We can hear them croaking in February ... possibly saying to the females, 'Come this way! We are waiting!'
Thank you for sharing these fine photographs,
Bev :-)

Hi Rob,
The suite of frogs is giving dynamism to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the frogs enjoying the sun. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hallo Rob,

Hi Rob
Three lovely wildlife photos: a group, a single portrait and an action/behaviour one.
Was the board places there especially for the frogs?
Best wishes

Hello Rob, delightful composition, I like frogs. But waht is the fate of these? In Polish we call French people the "frog eaters" :). Nice also the Workshop pictures, especially the titles.
Best regards from African paradise

Hi Rob,
we have so many stereotypes in Europe but I think it should be taken with charm and without offense.
In fact I have a photo in my collection which refers to frogs , and which I took in France:
https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/France/North/Ile-de-France//photo913167.htm
Lovely natural scenery, I see you have used reflection again, just a different one.
I miss sunny warm days like this one here.
Very well done,
M
