Photographer's Note
Good Morning Friends,
Here is a larger version where the details can be appreciated more clearly.
My photograph shows one of the many huge rocks, part of the Pink Granite Coast, in Brittany.
The rocks frequently take on the shape of some animal or some recognisable feature; to me, this was a pacman.
I don't know if you will be familiar with pacman but it was one of the very first arcade games. The pacman, shaped like a circle with a mouth cut out, used to travel round a maze, gobbling up the points, until a host of ghosts would suddenly chase him and try to capture him. Here is an example if you would like to have a game.
The man kindly posed so that I could show the scale. Although appearing large, there are many much larger examples along this stunning coast. However, others didn't look like pacman!!
Have a great day, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
as you know we have our share of granite here in the West Country, but I struggle to remember a chunk this big beside a walking track, the obliging gentleman is dwarfed by it`s size.
The very appealing side light works very well in revealing the shape and textures of a lovely shot.
This morning has started wet and chilly with worse to come I fear...
Kind regards Les

Hello Bev,
I remember pacman very well; a good excuse for spending hours in the pub:-) This giant rock does indeed have a passing resemblance but as Luciano says, it could also be a modern monumental sculpture. Great idea to get the man to pose for you. Excellent technical realisation.
The high f-stop used in my last posting was of course a mistake as you surmised; forgot to change the setting. Silly me!

Hello Bev,
It's quite a funny picture, but from the thumbnail I thought it would be even funnier, like you had made the man look like he was balancing the rock on his head in some strange way, similar to how tourists try to look like they're keeping the leaning tower of Pisa from falling. The man does well just for the measurements though. The rock is quite amazing, and if you had told us this was a man-made sculpture I might have believed you. The cuttings look so intended and well considered. I actually see a rather sad face, or maybe it's the head of a dog.
An interesting contribution to TE with very nice colours.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello, Beverley!
Interesting rock formation, especially after reading the title! I can also see a skull looking to the other side! Excellent colors and sharpness! Wonderful job!

Hello Bev
Yep! it does look like Pacman. It has a real skull like shape to it and I am surprised it has not been given a name by the locals. Real sense of the scale and wonderful tonal quality of these amazing rocks.

Bonjour Beverly,
Il est impressionnant ce rocher et c'est vrai qu'il ressemble beaucoup à Pacman. Le cadrage est classique mais efficace et l'ajout de l'homme donne une belle relation dimensionnelle.
Amicalement

Hello Bev,
I think I'll give a game of Pacman a miss just now (I'm far to young to remember Pacman anyway) but I see what you mean: this huge lump of rock does look like a head with a mouth just waiting to gobble something up - luckily, your hunky male model has crept up behind and is not at the mouth end!
This is a beautifully detailed photograph which shows the grain and tecture of this lovely pink granite perfectly. The bright sunshine is beautiful as are the colours and the surroundings too - just the thing to cheer me up on this cold, dark, windy and snowy day.
A very well composed photograph with lovely light and colours, exceptional sharpness and an interesting and amusing note to accompany it.
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

G'day Bev, howzit goin, darl? (Sorry I'm no good at OZ speak - I'll stick to northern git mode form here on in...)
I used to play Pacman! But - the whole of the rock also looks like that bloke from the Fantastic Four who turned into stone -I think his name was Ben.
Anyway - I love shots that are abstract and make us think a bit so this one gets my thumbs up!
Have a good day

Hello Beverley,
what a giant rock. Looks like a head with mouth and a nose to the left. Very interesting. Good to include a person to the heigth of the rock, very nice

Fine clear shot on the big stone and the church behind, where nature show us how small men can be against it's forces and creations, beverly.
Yet, I see marks carved upon the face of the rock - maybe people tried to move it in ancient era's.
Good evening,
Ike

Hello Bev,
Looks like this big granite boulder has been carved into centuries or even thousands of years ago in prehistoric times. The man at right adds scale. The man made construction at far right in the distance is roughly the same color hue as the rock. The blue sky makes a great backdrop. Tfs!
