Castle of Pau and Mint Tower (front)
The feudal castle was built from the 11th century. The Mazères tower (south) and the Montauser tower (noth) are from this periode.
At the end of the 14th century, Gaston III Fébus, famous count in Béarn, transform the castle to create an impregnable citadel. He uses bricks to build Fébus dongeon (right, being restaured) and the Mint tower (front).
King-to-be Henri IV was born in the Castle in 1553.
Then the castle has been transformed several times till the 19th with Renaissance architecture.
