Photographer's Note
This was a magical moment within a magical night for me. This was on my first overseas trip and it was my first night in Paris. I was hanging out with some guys who were more used to this sort of thing. International nightlife travel I guess you might call it.
At this moment, we were wandering around Paris. I was in a state of wonderment with just enough alcohol in my system to produce a pleasant high. The city was abuzz with the sounds of a jazz festival. We came across this girl just sitting on a motorcycle as if she belonged. Definitely worth a picture but a picture I would have normally been too shy to take. But it was a magical night. She smiled at the merrymaking Americans. The camera was raised. A moment was captured.

Not buzzed enough to ask for a ride? Or maybe this ain't the site for the sequel? j/k. At any rate, you got away with a cool portrait full of life. In part due to that flashing smile, in part due to all the detail in the background which add dynamics to the pic. Certainly not flawless; the flash lighting is hard, its not pin-sharp and there is lots of noice. But it has atmosphere in abundance and that's what counts.
