Contrairement à la légende, la cité doit son nom à l'oppidum gallo-romain Carcasso sur lequel elle s'est érigée. Occupée successivement par les Wisigoths, les Francs puis les Musulmans, Carcassonne connaît son apogée au XIe siècle sous la puissance du comte de Toulouse et des Trencavel. Les fortifications se dressent, sur les premiers remparts du IIIe siècle, ainsi que la basilique et le château comtal.

Superb presentation of the Languedoc-Roussillon province! Unfortunatelly I have visited two small towns there only. Attractive green-grey colors combination, this historical fortress looks like a modern movie decoration. Just a unique place!

Hello Serge is really beautiful country! Aside from the beauty of this architecture
I especially like the place you choose to present us this scene. The bridge with the buildings leads us nice towards the main subject of your composition. The image has also fantastic clarity and depth and despite weather very good lighting and well-saturated colors.

Hello Serge,
An unusual and most interesting point of view on the walled city of Carcaassonne, which is a fine place to visit if only there were not so many tourists:-) The greenery offers a pleasant contrast to the brown-grey tones of the fortifications. The image is well constructed with the path sweeping in from the bottom left making an excellent lead-line.

Bonjour Serge,

La distance entre le pont et les ramparts donne de la profondeur à l'image. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs de l'architecture du pont, des ramparts et des immeubles. La lumière fait ressortir les verts. Bonne journée.

Bonjour Serge,

La vue en contre-plongée sur les forteresses accentue leur importance. Le pont et ses arches balance bien l'image. Les couleur sont bien saturées avec le ciel couvert. La photo a bien vieilli.

Salut Serge,
Merveilleuse carte postale et magnifique endroit à visiter. Les éléments historiques sont des plus intéressants, surement un bel endroit à visiter. Bel éclairage malgré l'absence du soleil qui nous laisse bien voir les détails de ce vieux pont et de la magnifique forteresse qui protège les édifices. Les verts sont superbes.

Even on a cloudy day, the place is really impressive! I really like your pov here! It was a good idea to place the bridge in foreground and then the magnificent and powerful walls of the castle! It must have been a really important town!
