Photographer's Note

Saint-Palais-sur-Mer is a town and seaside resort in south-western France, located in the department of Charente-Maritime ( region of Poitou-Charentes ).

Situated at the mouth of the Gironde estuary, facing the Atlantic Ocean, on the Cote de Beauté, it geographically belongs to Royan and the Arvert peninsula.

The resort gained momentum in the late nineteenth century. It retains many testimonies of seaside architecture from the "Belle Epoque" to the "Roaring Twenties" mainly located in the surrounding pine forest.

The main area of town off the principal beach consists of modern buildings structured around a central plaza, lined with shops and restaurants. There is also a park of 16 hectares with an artificial lake and recreational facilities.

The commune hosts five beaches, of different sizes, connected together by a landscaped walking trail (Sentier des Douaniers) from which can be observed picturesque rock formations, such as the Devil's Bridge or the Well of Auture.

J'ai connu St Palais il y a bien longtemps, et je remarque qu'il y a eu beaucoup de changements.
C'est ainsi, les souvenirs d'enfance s'estompent pour laisser place à la modernité.
Les couleurs sont gaies et douces à la fois.

pinks and reds aren't color combinations we see too too often, but its certainly an attractive one - but not one I'd think of right away.

clear and sharp presentation, well exposed in these lighting conditions.
