A lady in peace, a photo from Ile-de-France, Nord

Photographer's Note

Using the Eiffel tower, the lady of Paris, to set the place, this is a close up of the peace monument at the end of Parc du Champs de Marcs. The monument consists of two rows of columns on each end and between them a platform with a passage and along this platform there is a glass wall. On this glass, and on the columns, the word peace is written in many languages with different alphabetes. Quite interesting if you like linguistics, I can identify frieden, pace, paz and peace in this frame.
I took my picture through the glass using the frame of the glass to frame the bottom of the tower. It was in a very grey weather and the glass is full of city dirt and raindrops. There was just as much color as in yesterdays picture so this time I went for B&W and tried to do sepia for my first time.
I think the result is a bit lowkey for a peace monument, but then there is allways a doubt in everlasting peace....

Difficult exercise to take a picture of the Lady but you successed very well. It looks like a picture of the beginning of the siecle. I realy like.

I like the sepia tone - very nice. The position of the tower is also nice (we're a little further back than yesterday, right?)

But I think you've tried to force too many things into the picture. The text, the glass, the frames, the tower and the building. I would like to lose the framing of the glass (I find that really disturbing) - and - I'd like the text (with the stained glass) in focus, the tower a little out of focus and the building more out of focus. Then, to me it would look like something from a scratched French movie in the 20s or 30s. Ah oui, monsieur!

That's just my opinion - I'm not even sure that would have been possible...

PS. We had a dog named "Lady", so I don't like calling the tower that.

I love the idea, I love the sepia tone, and I love using the window as a frame, but like Kaj, I find so many lines a little distracting. Also, I just noticed a thin white line running vertical on the right side and I'm not sure what it is, but it looks a little strange. I tried a workshop with a different crop as an alternate presentation. It shows less of the different languages, but I think the idea still comes across. See what you think.

Very interesting, I like the dirt/rain on the glass. Like the other people have commented, there may be a few too many lines in this picture, I think you could have cropped it on the right so the far edge of the window frame was not visible. That said, it is a small thing for an already excellent photo.

ans for sure i saw many picture from the effeil tower
but this one is really good, and really original
i like the composition, also maybe because u have cut
the top.

excellent! you've achieved a great effect. i agree with kajenn to a certain degree; cropping the top and left bar off would be more appealing to me. nevertheless it's one of the most originals shots i've seen of the tower. (btw the bottom line is in korean)
