World Time Clock
Berlinische Galerie – Exposition Bettina Pousttchi

A bit drizzly Sunday morning with chance of showers drove us to the museum.
Because our preference is museums for modern and contemporary art, we decided to visit the Berlinische Galerie, within walking distance of our hotel with an interesting walk through the Kreuzberg district.
The Berlinische Galerie was founded in 1975 with a focus on exhibiting art from Berlin.
The oldest works in the Galerie's ownership date from 1870. The museum's visual art collection includes works by the Berlin Secession (Max Liebermann and Lovis Corinth), New Objectivity and Expressionism (Otto Dix, George Grosz and Hannah Höch),as well as Georg Baselitz, Wolf Vostell, and the Junge Wilde. Internationally renowned artists with a connection with Berlijn.

We visited the fascinating exhibition of Bettina Pousttchi, born in Mainz and now working in Berlin.
She gained international fame with her extensive worldwide photo series "World Time Clock" (2008-2016).
An extensive series with 24 photographs’s of public clocks collected over 8 years in 24 different time zones all over the world.

In addition to "World Time Clock", Bettina Pousttchi's exposition also consisted of some of her sculptures made of mechanically transformed street furniture such as bicycle racks, tree protectors and guardrails illustrating her interest in the planning systems in public spaces.

In the first photo we see one of these sculptures in the foreground and a suppoost that keeps an eye on one of the visitors
In the second photo we see again this suppoost who ensures that a young couple does not try to bend one of the sculptures back into the original form.
In the third photo I used the spatial possibilities of the museum to place the time in a diagonal position.
