Berliner Luft – Early in the Evening.

Today three photo from Berlin in the theme "Nothing Special" made popular by Gert.

The three photos are taken in the early evening when we walked back to our hotel from the Alexander Platz via the Grunerstrasse and the Getraudanstrasse.

In the first picture we see the dome of the Berliner Dom in front of the warm colours of the setting sun.
The passing swarm of starlings make the picture a bit special.

In the second photo we see the top of the "Rotes Rathaus" and the "Berliner Fernsehturm" posing right next to each other for my camera.

I chose the third photo with the two spires of the Nikolaikirche because of the interesting graphic composition that is formed by the silhouette of the church spires and the buildings in front of it, the beautiful early evening sky and the first quarter of the moon.

When i prepared this presentation, I remembered the titel “Berliner Luft” (Berlin Sky / Berliner Air).

Het lijkt of er heeft iemand zijn verkeerde duiven uitgelaten, grapje
Heerlijk contrast picture met de torens als zwarte monters tegen de orange mooi achtergrond.

Hello Rob,
Honestly, these photos are all far too nice and well composed to be regarded as nothing special. The silhouettes of some of the most attractive parts of the city skyline and the intense colours of the evening sky make them outstanding in this category. The main photo gives me reminiscences of Hitchcock. I hope the birds didn't have any evil intentions.

Hi Rob,

The presenc eof the birds is adding life to the scene. I like the play between the lighted and shadowed areas. The evening light is giving nice colours to the sky. Have a nice day.

Hallo Rob,
Prachtige foto van de silhouetten van beide torens van de Nikolaikirche en de maan in het eerste kwartier.
Maar je hoofdfoto biedt natuurlijk de voordelen van de kleurrijke lucht die van oranje overgaat naar blauw doorheen enkele zacht getinte wolken. Bovendien wordt de lucht gevuld door massaal aanwezige vogels, blijkbaar spreeuwen.
De foto heeft iets van een scène uit een Hitchcockfilm. Doch de vogels komen hier toch eerder lieflijk dan angstwekkend over.

Hello Rob,

I have a very soft spot for blue hour photographs, especially when they have interesting silhouetted shapes, exhibited against the sky.

I think this is the most interesting because of the effects of the birds and the extra colours in the sky but, believe me, all three photographs are of a high quality and could have been used as main posts!

Rien de spécial, c'est l'humilité qui s'exprime.
Et pourtant, la joliesse de ces prises de vue a besoin d'être montrée.
J'aime particulièrement le sujet principal avec ce ciel offrant une tonalité de couleurs de toute beauté avec ce vol d'oiseaux

Hello Rob, this main shot is wonderful, the buildings are such a dark silhouette with no identifiable features to be seen, and set against the beautiful colours of the evening sky, th starlings in flight are ‘ the icing on the cake!’
Picture 3 is very interesting with the more geometric shapes of the buildings and the inclusion of the moon.
Lovely work.
I certainly wouldn’t class this as ‘ nothing special! ‘

Mijn foto's van dit moment waren lang niet scherp genoeg. Het was een mooie zwerm Berlijnse vogels, die natuurlijk pendelden tussen het brood bij de Gedächtniskirche en dat op het Alexanderplatz, zoals in het Nederlands bezongen, maar hier onderweg rondom de koepel fladderden voor de rijke kleuren in de avondlucht.

Stunning warm cold color contrasts in this superb transition shot where sunset becomes blue hour. The silhouetted fg domes adds nice depth and layering, and incredible repetition of the birds. Tfs!

Hello Rob, I wouldn't call it "nothing special." First of all, Gert means that there are no palaces, or churches of other famous objects but the scenes with the people. Here we see dark silhouettes of the four domes against the fantastic colourful sky. And who do not think about Hitchcock seeing all these birds? Stunning composition.
