Photographer's Note


A picture of one (and the biggest) of the three churches in the Old Town (Altstadt) of Rostock (there used to be a fourth church, but that one was destroyed in WW2 and never rebuilt). The Marienkirche (St Mary’s Church) has quite a remarkable tower, as you can see here. The church was built in the 13th century in the Brick Gothic style that is so typical for Hanseatic cities like Rostock. The church houses an astronomical clock, built in 1472 by Hans Düringer, a clockmaker from Nuremberg, I added a picture of it to the workshop (

This photo was taken in Lange Straße. The glass façade that featured in my previous photo is seen in front of the church.
