Photographer's Note

A view of the vaulting under the New Town Hall in Munich. The door in the background leads to the Ratskeller, which was not open at the time of my visit.

Munich's New Town Hall occupies the northern part of Marienplatz in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It hosts the city government including the city council, offices of the mayors and part of the administration.

The main facade faces the square, while the rear backs on to a small park (Marienhof). The basement is almost completely occupied by a large restaurant called Ratskeller. On the ground floor, some rooms are rented to small businesses. Also located in the ground floor is the official tourist information office.
