Photographer's Note

A follow-up to my previous posting – Arcade, and captured a few hundred metres from where that was taken.

Some words from Wikipedia:

A stairway, staircase, stairwell, flight of stairs, or simply stairs is a construction designed to bridge a large vertical distance by dividing it into smaller vertical distances, called steps. Stairs may be straight, round, or may consist of two or more straight pieces connected at angles. Special types of stairs include escalators and ladders.

The part of the stairway that is stepped on is called the tread. The vertical portion between each tread on the stair is the riser. This may be missing for an "open" stair effect. In some cases the edge part of the tread may protrude over the riser beneath; this is designated the nosing.
