David Hockney My Parents (and myself)

Rarely do I show pictures on TrekEarth with only a painting without the interaction with spectators.
This time I have to make an exception because the main photo of this presentation has the visible cooperation of a renowned TE member. And in order And in order not to argue with the moderators, I had to reverse the order of the first 2 photos.

In the main photo (actually photo 2) we see the painting "My Parents" by one of the most famous representatives of pop art: David Hockney.
There are 2 versions of this painting.
The first version was called " My Parents and myself" from 1975 and remained hidden in the LA studio for 45 years after a brief argument with his parents. After the quarrel was settled, Hockney painted a second version of "My Parents" in 1977 without his own reflection in the mirror. This work is one of Hockney's most famous works. His best-known work is undoubtedly "Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures)"which was sold for $90 million in 2018.

It was a pleasant surprise when we discovered during our visit to Hamburg that there was an exhibition at the Bucerius Art Forum of the work of David Hockney (on view until 13 September 2020)

"My Parents was one of the paintings of the exhibition, but the museum also offered the opportunity to create its own version of this work.
The result can be seen in the1st workshop. (so this is the actual main photo). I needed the cooperation of a widely respected TE member for this photo. For this occasion he has swapped the book that David's father holds on the painting for a more modern smartphone. Unfortunately, no one was available to play for the mother.

As an encore you can admire in the 2nd workshop “In the Studio”. a panoramic colour photographic image of David Hockney standing in his studio in the Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles from 2017
