Market Place of Celle, a photo from Niedersachsen, Ouest

Photographer's Note

Here I show you a row of houses at the market place of Celle, a town of about 70000 inhabitants in the federal state Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) in northern Germany. The picture was taken on a Saturday when market takes place here.
The buildings in Celle’s old town center date back to the 16th century, among them numerous (about 480 restored) half-timbered houses, making Celle an important city for tourism in the southern Lüneburg Heath region. A walk in Celle is like using a time machine ...

In the workshop you can see another view of the market place with the medieval church St. Mary's, built mainly in the 13th century.

Hello Frank,
Interesting market scene. I do like the patrons walking by the market sellers. The different color obst und Gemüse along mit the blue things just makes this a colorful photo. Along with your note it makes this an intersting place to visit.

Bonjour, mon ami Frank,
Quelle excellente idée de choisir un jour de marché pour donner non seulement de la vie à la composition, mais pour rendre hommage à ces vieilles maisons aux façades joliment décorées. Les siècles passent, les marchés et la vie continuent.

P.S. : Quant à ma maison, je me contente d'une maison de campagne plus modeste, son entretien est déjà suffisamment coûteux sans avoir à entretenir un château chargé de fantômes ! ;o) !!!!!

or in a german way...k ell uh
full of vitality and a day in town feel..i like those days..i can sit in a coffee house and watch the world go by

Hi Frank,
An interesting close-up shot of the market scene with the backdrop of fine houses. This was a difficult job to include all of the foreground action with the high buildings and you succeeded well in my view, with some legs of walkers cropped tastefully. The viewer has the impression of being right in the scene here ready to examine the fruit and vegetables for sale. A fine capture.

It is so picturesque - like a Slavic folk embroidery - no wonder, since Saxony is so close to Slavic nations. I admire your focus and the inclusion of so many figures in the compo.

Hallo Frank,
good capture of this scene of the daily life in this street, with the market and people.
Good diagonal of the facades of these houses with a magnificent architecture. There is a little OE in the sky, but it had to be a gray day and with a difficult light, although this is not problem and it does not spoil the photo.
