Photographer's Note

Lots of enthusiasm for my previous Rothenburg post (for which many thanks), so here's another one.

Strange thing is we didn't spend the night here, just visited it on our way from Wurzburg to Harburg, travelling that good ol'Romantische Strasse and taking in the sights.

ROTHERBURG-OB-DER-TAUBER is one of Germany's most picturesque towns. It has plenty of colourful houses in its lovingsly preserved center. A bit fairytale-like.

THIS PICTURE shows the very center of town. It's the view along the Herrengasse, leading up to the central market square. The white tower in the middle belongs to the town hall complex.

Hello Benny, Another great picture from Rothenburg. I was there twice and also only stopped for sightseeing, with the night. I would be nice to see it in the evening. Marvellous architecture, great presentation, Fantastic colours of the buildings contrasting with the blue sky.

This is an amazing city and you present us wonderful view of it . For a colors' lover , what a dreamy place !
Curious that there are not crowds of tourists in the street mid summer ... not a problem indeed.

Hello Benny,

This is a good follow-on from your previous photograph. The houses are colourful and characterful.
I remember John showing this stepped-like style on gables, seen on houses in Bruges. He did tell me the name for it but ... just cannot recall!

It's a fine exposure, showing crisp details.

Duitsland heeft zijn identiteit netjes bewaard ook al was in 1945 Duitsland plat gegooid.
Uw foto bewijst het doorgedreven beleid om alles terug te geven in zijn oorspronkelijk bestaan.

Hallo Benny,
Rothenburg ziet er niet enkel pittoresk uit maar ook bijzonder kleurrijk.
Eigenlijk zie ik hier alleen maar prachtige gevels maar de eerste links is toch de mooiste.
Het wegdek toont een aantal schaduwen van gevels die voor ons niet zichtbaar zijn.
Uitstekende compositie en scherpte bij deze zomerse foto.

Dag Benny,
Het is leuk om jouw foto’s van deze streek in Duitsland te vergelijken met mijn foto’s uit het noordoostelijke deel van Duitsland. Hier in Beieren herkennen we de romantische architectuur met veel vakwerk en zoet kleuren. Meestal met meer decoraties dan het zakelijkere noorden.

Your photo makes me want to visit Rothenburg, with its colorful old buildings of different styles. A well composed photo that shows how high the white tower is. The sunshine brings out the colors well.

I remember this spot. It is probably one of the most characteristic places. I love the well saturated colors, your signature. Also quite interesting effect with the perspective, the tower seems so very tall in this picture.
It stands out from the dark blue sky.
Beautiful final effect!

it is a marvelous place as we can see by the façades and the tower. interesting the style and the position of the tower in front the façade.
