This is the Imperial Castle (Kaiserburg) at Nuremberg Castle (Nürnberger Burg), one of the most impressive medieval fortifications in Europe, which represented the importance of the Holy Roman Empire and the role of the Imperial City of Nuremberg. This shot shows the Heidenturm (Heathens’ Tower) and the Kaiserkapelle (Imperial Chapel).

Hej Lars,
Jag antar att du ställdes inför ett svårt beslut här. Antingen ta med vägmaskinerna, som du gjorde, eller beskära bilden precis till höger om mannen i mörka kläder. Då hade du fått en vertikal bild med slottet och ett annat vackert hus, men gått miste om fler vackra hus och pojken på cykeln. Jag hade kanske gjort som du och valt den bredare vyn med fler hus, men jag skulle ha förbannat firman som placerat sina arbetsredskap på en så här vacker plats.

I like half timbered buildings and this castle has lots of them. It's all very pretty in spite of the repair work hijacking the grounds.

The little one on bikes drew first attention, Lars, than I saw the renovation work near the path to the old tower.
Ancient place always in a need for maintainance.

Intriguing architecture isn't it I love how the tall castle seems to be watching over the place, hence binding together nicely. A lovely scene boosted by sweet sky and human input.

You used the light to make a dramatic image. I like the play of light and shadow here and the contrast between the silhouetted and lit parts. The little splashes of red enhance the image even if they are parts of vehicles and machinery. The people add life.

Hi Lars,
Even though I have been in Nuremberg so many times, my memories of it have faded away. I think it is because I was not taking photos. Taking photos keeps a place in my memory for much longer because at least few times I come back to it.
This is a great addition to your reportage and it refreshed my memory of this lovely town. It all comes back to me now.
Nice spot although the construction elements are ruining a bit the medieval mood.

Hallo Lars,

Een moment dat de werken stillagen, en de kinderen konden een uitstapje maken langs de werf.
U koos een goede hoek, met de muur dat de wegen van elkaar scheiden.
Dit geeft perfect een gevoel van diepte, en teven een perspectief foto.

Hello Lars, I was in Nuremberg more than forty years ago and I do not remember this imperial castle. It loos impressive indeed. Do all these buildings with the red and white window shutters belong to it? Pity that there are works. Leaving in composition only the tower would mean loss of the long building unfortunately

This view of the beautiful imperial castle is sensational, it is a pity that the position of the sun did not favor you so that the magnificent tower would be left with a little better light, but the houses are perfect.
