Photographer's Note
The only all marble stadium in the world, built in 566 BC! It is also one of the oldest stadiums on this planet.
The very first olympic games in 1896 were held here. Capacity of 68.000 people! In the morning, the track is open to runners. It has an authentic soft grippy and bouncy 400m athletics track.
After every olympics, the Greek athletes are honored here. The finish of the Athens marathon is also in the stadium. Entrance is EUR 5 with audio guide.

Hi Gilbert
What an amazing place and what a way you've chosen to present it here . The position and depth in the stadium itself , the stunning view off beyond and the colors of the sky are all wonderful. It is brilliant to see a structure this old being so positively used. All marble, wow...Thanks for sharing this .
Cheers
Noel

Hello Gilbert,
imagine ... you arrive here at sunset after a cruel 42 kilometres struggle, 68000 people stand up and cheer and you are the first to arrive and you won a marathon and beat yourself once more.
This is not a ruin. Its condensated life.
Regards from Rhineland
Sven
