SLENDER TAILED MEERKAT

Distribution:
Angola, Namibia, South Africa.

Food:
Eats mainly insects, worms and spiders, which they find on the ground or when digging. It will also eat small birds, rodents, reptiles, snails and roots from plants.

Data:
Very sociable, they live in groups of up to 30 individuals, in dried plains where they occupy the holes of ground squirrels. They are active only during the day and can be seen on top of their ground nests, sunbathing or watching for possible enemies like hawks. They emit a large variety of sounds, depending on their activities.

They give birth to 2 to 4 babies
