Another shot from tourlida sea-lake located 3km away from Mesolonghi.

About the shot:
===============
Sunsets are a difficult subject to capture. Don't you think that setting your camera to auto settings, click and you're done. The reality is far from it.
First of all you have to find out how dark or bright is your sunset. and yes not all sunsets are the same.
The lower the sun is, the darker light you get.
However, the light metering can be easily fooled depending your foreground subject, and try to balance the exposure in order to get a normal light average. Thats wrong, the sun gets too white and the subject gets too gray killing the lack of realism the atmosphere needs.
So I tried here to underexpose some f-stops (EV-2) in order to get a faithful sunset at the background, and beautiful semi-black silhouettes in front.
I knew I could push up some details on the boats from RAW, and reduce the useless noise.
Balancing my POV, lowering a bit and click!

(PP) Post Processing notes:

You have to check my workshop to find the differences. It took me a couple of hours practicing my hobby in PP.

- RAW detail squeeze
- RAW exposure recover and light fill
- Extreme HPP makeover where:
- RED masks applied (allright the atmosphere there was HOT)
- Light softfocus
- (NR) Noise Reduction
- Resize/custom sharpen
- Frame/Title
- JPEG optimization up to 300kb

Good pov and amazing compo with nice warm colors. ALlthough you made this capture in August,it hasthe charm of an end summer capture. A good trial with perfect result.

Hi Stelios,

I hope you had a very good night sleep. :) While browsing gallery's thumbnails this one immediatelly stands out. No question about that. Again you proved that you are somekind of PP wizard. Superb job, everything is as it should be...true that maybe not exact scene as in original but it could be the scene from previous evening. In other words, just right amount of PP to make it as real as any other. Love the excellent work and, as usuall, outstanding final quality. My compliments,

Στέλιο καλησπέρα,
πολύ καλό το ηλιοβασίλεμα της Τουρλίδας με την θάλασσα να έχει πάρει τπ χρώμα του ουρανού.Η ξύλινη αποβάθρα με τις βάρκες δημιουργεί βάθος στην σύνθεση και της δίνει άλλη αισθητική.Οι σημειώσεις σου όπως πάνα χρήσιμες.

kalispera stelios! for some weird reason this one brought memories of a song composed by a Yugoslavian composer Bregovic: the song is about Tesaloniki though, but the mood of the music (cannot speak about the words, since I do not speak Greek yet) perfectly fits your picture (in my opinion). love the coppertone reflection.

stelios, indeed it is a difficult matter to capture a sunset like the way you did.

άλλη μια πανέμορφη και πολύ σωστή τεχνικά φωτογραφία. Πρέπει να το χεις και λίγο μέσα σου όσον αφορά τις δύσεις και τις ανατολές του ηλίου. Ο λόγος είναι γιατί ποτέ δεν φτάνει να είναι καλή μια δύση η μια ανατολή αν δεν βάλεις και λίγο το χεράκι σου σε συνδιασμό πάντα με την φαντασία και την διαθεσή σου στην μετέπειτα επεξεργασία για να βγάλεις ένα τόσο καλό αποτέλεσμα.

Of course you need to PP and with such a dynamic range as a sunset you need to push the RAW to the limit to produce what your eye saw; the camera still can't do that in one go but with RAW the info is all there to take advantage of. This is a real eye-catcher with stunning colours and a wonderful shine on the water. It's even 100% sharper than the original that looks very soft. Excellent work as always.

Hi Stelios. Amazing sunset with wonderfuls colors. Those boats look wonderful where you choose to put them. About the issue of the natural and the less natural photography, I must say that I really don't mind that people choose to present their photos the best possible way (at least in their opinion). Besides, I doubt that the original picture looks like reality (they rarely do, I think). All the best to you and thanks for your great notes. Paulo

Do i like this one more? I don't think so, i love that blue version a lot, but here is more going on in the composition and it has warmer tonings which make it always a pleasure to look at. The lower part on the water with the yellow/orange glow inside is one of my favorite parts, it brings a certain mood inside...calm and peaceful.
A great shot, not at least by your pp handling which is always good and dedicated...

Τελικά αξίζει να περιποιείσαι ότι αγαπάς, ότι κι αν είναι αυτό! Βρίσκεις τα κρυφά μυστικά του. Λαξεύεις την τραχιά του υφή, φωτίζεις τις άγνωστες πτυχές, αναδεικνύεις τα προσόντα του, στο τέλος-τέλος υπερηφανεύεσαι που είναι δικό σου! Δικό σου όχι με την έννοια της κατοχής, αλλά με την έννοια της ευγενικής συνύπαρξης. Και η φωτογραφία είναι κομμάτι της ζωής μας!

This is such a charming scene with the rickety jetty and the way the boat on the left is leaning as if it's old and needs to rest. The sun is nicely placed and I like the orange sky.
