Photographer's Note

The Greek Orthodox Easter is 8 days away and I think a religion theme could be the proper! :)

This is the church of Agios Dimitrios, very close to the neiborghood I grew up.

The church is not too old as the church of Agia Paraskevi. It built at the decade of 1930. It has a small square and a lot of trees around. A very nice and peaceful corner of my hometown.

The bust you can see at the right down corner belongs to the Sarafianos K. Sarafianos, a doctor and ex major of Chalkis at the period of 1934 - 1942 and 1945 - 1946.

Hope you like the game between the sunlight and the shadows.

Those shadows spoilt the vision of the momument as well as the excess of pavement . The colours , sharpness and subject are well defined and accomplished but i think there are some tiny little details causing a disturbing effect if considering the picture must become something utterly abstracted from the reality , drains , scaffolding , street works ... Im so pleased of looking at those Greek evoking pictures and thank to have bumped into your gallery . Thanks a lot !

Η φωτογραφία σου έχει μια καθαρότητα και πολυ "γλυκές" επιφάνειες,γραμμές και χρώματα.
Ο φωτισμός πολύ καλά βγαλμένος.

Hi Mpampis
The Greek orthodox church are really different from our catholic churches. The weather become to be very warm in your country and the light is hard.

Ο απαλος γλυκος φωτισμος μαζι με το 'παιχνιδι" των σκιων στον τοιχο της εκκλησιας δινουν ενα ιδιαιτερο τονο στην φωτογραφια σου.

Kalimera Mpampi, indeed an enticing shadow and light play and very well composed too. I said it before, I love the architecture of the Greek-Orthodox churches and I love the geometrics of this one.

orea fotografia aftis tis poli omorfis ekklisias. Mu aresi i epilogi optikis gonias ke kadrarismatos. O fotismos omos den ine toso epitichimenos. Nomizo oti eprepe na iches dialexi ali ora oste na min ine skiero to kato meros.

Kalimera Mpampis,
It is sharp but not your best image to me, there is a lot of shade and I do not like the background scaffolding, but considering the place and angle it's probably the best you could get out of there... I know the point, sometimes read about places, get excited about discovering them and then when on site discover there is no right PoV, or ugly scaffoldings, or parked cars everywhere, or the weather is horrible... Photography is the school of patience ;-)

Μπάμπη καλησπέρα,
απ'ότι βλεπω συνεχίζεις να 'παιζεις'με τις σκιές της Χαλκίδας με επιτυχία.Τα χρώματα και και το φως,έστω και στη σκιά,είναι πολύ καθαρά.Το contrast μεταξύ του ουρανού και της εκκλησίας είναι εξαιρετικά.
