Zakynthos (sometimes called Zante in English), the third largest of the Ionian Islands, covers an area of 410 km² (158 sq mi) and its coastline is roughly 123 km (76 mi) in length. The island is named after Zakynthos, the son of a legendary Arcadian chief Dardanus. The name, like all similar names ending in -nthos, is pre-Mycenaean or Pelasgian in origin. Zakynthos has a thriving tourism industry.

Hello Vicky,

Stunning picture with very good composition and beautiful sunset against the decorative railings. And your note somehow reminded me of the legend Greek singer Mr. Demis Russous whom i respect and i grew up with his many great songs on my mind, when u mentioned the son of a legendary Arcadian. Demis Rossous sang "Lovely Lady of Arcadia","Souvenir to Souvenir", "Far Away", Velvet Morning", etc.. No doubt that Greece is a beautiful country and for sure it is a beautiful country.

This photo has a very strong influence to me. Now I am listening Zina Peggy - Matono and feel some sadness and nostalgia, although I don't understand what she sings, but it's a sad song. I saw Hussein wrote that this beautiful sunset reacalls the songs of Demis Roussos. It's the same to me too. Thank you for sharing that lovely photo woth us!
