Still in Nafplio,
At the east side of Vasileos Kostantinou street, you will find the Theodoros Kolokotronis park, where the horsman hero was sculptured by Lazaros Sohos and placed at 1901.

I wanted the hero to show the light so I've waited a little before taking action!

About the shot:

My first INFRARED post in TE.
I love infrared photography, though my equipment is not the best for it, since my IR-CUT sensor filter prevents it :(
Infrared photography captures the reddish tones of a sunny scene. Most cameras has an IR-CUT filter in front of their sensor, making IR photography difficult.
The only way to avoid this is to use long exposures in order the sensor to capture the desired light of the scene. However a tripod is needed just like night shots.

Tip: Don't expect your shots being still, unless your subject is still. My subject is still, but the rest of the scene (clouds, trees) isn't! So you'll have to think what you want every time before you make the shot.

Another tip: There is no way to create a POV with an IR filter on your camera, you simple can't see through the viewfinder! Set your tripod and create your POV, put the IR filter after, and take the shot.

Settings: The fastest combination to avoid people walking through the park.
f/3.5
ISO 400
and exposure 10 seconds.

Best equipment: Nikon D70. You could take this shot handheld, with the same settings and exposure 1/60, as the specific equipment hasn't an IR-CUT filter.

Its possible to remove your IR-CUT filter from your camera, but not recommended as you may damage the sensor. I play safe :)

Beautiful capture and subject composition. Probably a little ghosting towards the center because of your 10 sec exposure, but very nice shot indeed. I did learn a lot from your description

Hi Stelios,

That has been a while..well, great IR shot here! This statue is so in it's place in the frame! Pointing to the light, a bit bright..but in some how, the mood in this photo is amazing due to the IR effect. Feels very strange, the lack of persons in the frame also took part in creating the excellent mood in this photo. You;ve waited for the right moment and did the right processing. I like to read your notes :) Sky and colours are top!

an excellent tribute to the heroic past of nafplio. very symbolic, moody and, in my opinion, well timed and technically perfect composition (love how you have placed the railing and the statue). very interesting and educating note on infra-red capture too. will have to try it one day soon.

Belle photo de cette statue, les couleurs et la lumière a quelque chose de spéciale, de mystérieux, sans doute du au long temps d' exposition, bien joué mon ami.Cette surexposition est placée au meilleur endroit possible, même le cavalier l' a vu et surtout nous le montre.

Απιστευτα τα χρωματα και η ατμοσφαιρα εδω.Αυτο που συμπληρωνει ομως την αξια της φωτο ειναι ο Κολοκοτρωνης με το χερι του να δειχνει το φως και την ελπιδα για τον τοπο
