Photographer's Note

View of Pagasitic Gulf from Milies Village (this is the Greek word for apple trees).
The village is surrounded by apple and chestnut trees on its north-eastern side and olive groves on the south-western one.

The roofs of the mansions and buildings in Pelion are a distinctive element of the local architecture. They are always covered with the famous grey slates that are locally mined. In other parts of Greece, these slates are usually an orange / brown colour, and the grey apperance is only usually found in Pelion.
